The 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11, organised by Karachi United FC with approval from Karachi Coordination Committee, witnessed a Group ‘B’ match as Al-Shabaz Korangi beat the highly rated Zone West championship runners up Sindh Balochistan (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) 2-0 in a tight game at the Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. The result leaves Al-Shabaz on 7 points from 3 games while Sindh Balochistan have 3 points from 2 games.
Midfielder Jahangir Khan scored both goals for Al-Shabaz which earned him man of the match from KFL organising secretary Riaz Ahmed. Before the game, Sohail Bari and son Danial Bari, both from Chicago (USA), met both teams as chief guests. Match referee was Ibrar Hussain with assistants Babar Khan and Farrukh Riaz, while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Member Central Zone). FC Rovers (Malir) will face Young Ansari on Friday at 3:30 PM.
A capacity crowd witnessed the game as Sindh Balochistan started strongly against Al-Shabaz, but the Korangi side drew first blood when midfielder Jahangir Khan scored in 12th minute to put his side 1-0 up. In 28th minute, a punt from Akhtar Rasheed was superbly met by Jahangir’s head to put Al-Shabaz 2-0 up. Sindh Balochistan strike force of Nadeem Baloch, Muhammad Ehsan, Naimatullah, and Nadir Ali with midfielders Lal Muhammad Sr., Ajmal Abbasi, Raheel Ghulam tried to break through the Al-Shabaz backline of Muhammad Johar, Muhammad Zakir, Muhammad Hameed, and goalkeeper Manzoor Alam did not buckle under pressure.
The game remained 2-0 as Al-Shabaz won 3 points while Sindh Balochistan went home with none.
