The 6th Karachi United School Championship 2010 witnessed the results of two more qualifiers at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. According to tournament organising secretary Riaz Ahmed, Aga Khan Higher Secondary School came from behind to beat Army Public School 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Aga Khan’s Furqan. This was the tournament’s third hat-trick while it was Furqan’s first.
In the other game, the All-City School clash saw Darkhshan campus beat 10-man North Campus a resounding 5-0 thanks to a brace from captain Shahrukh as well as goals from Mohtashim Ansari, Shahmir and Riyan Ahmed. Both winners qualified for the next round. City School North’s Azeer Mirza was sent off on a red card offence.
Match referees for the two games were Adnan Khan, Babar Khan, Farrukh Riaz, and Yasir Ejaz while match commissioner was Abdul Karim, Chairman Referees and Member Central Zone.
Aga Khan found itself 0-1 down at half time against APS after Umar Nadeem’s 30 yard shot flew past Aga Khan goalie Talib Ali in the 9th minute. However in second half, Aga Khan came back strongly and dominated the game as striker Furqan scored thrice in the 34th, 51st, and 54th minute to help his side win the tie 3-1 and qualify for the next round.
City School Darkhshan humiliated City School North 5-0 in the next game in a one-sided affair. At half time, Darkshan led 3-0 thanks to a brace from captain Shahrukh Naviwala (20th and 29th minute) and Mohtashim Ansari (24th minute). In second half Darkhshan scored twice more with Shahmir Fahim (34th minute) and Riyan Ahmed (59th minute). In the 40th minute, City School North fumbled their chance of making the score 1-3 when captain Sayam Jamal wasted a spot kick. 3 minutes before the final whistle, City North’s defender Azeer Mirza was sent off for a red-card offence to add insult to injury.
The final round will be played from 18th Dec 2010 onwards.
