KARACHI: Afghan FC left WAPDA behind to become the sole leaders when they outclassed star-studded National Bank 4-1 while Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) struck last minute equaliser to hold Habib Bank to a 3-3 draw in matches of the Pakistan Premier Football League held on Friday.
At the Government High School Ground in Chaman, Balochistan, hosts Afghan FC humiliated National Bank 4-1. Afghan FC opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Abdul Nasir. After the breather, Afghan FC played in a fiery fashion, scoring three goals in a space of only 18 minutes. Jadid Khan Pathan struck twice in the 53rd and 70th minute while Fazal Rehman landed one in the 63rd minute as the hosts were in commanding position with 4-0 lead. Muhammad Asif scored a consolation goal in the 84th minute.
With the win, Afghan FC moved to the top spot with 16 points from six meetings while National Bank have six points.
Meanwhile, here at the KPT Stadium, Asim Faiz netted a goal in the 90th minute to enable SSGC hold Habib Bank to a 3-3 draw. At one stage, Habib Bank had 3-0 edge with goals from Khayyal Muhammad (18th minute), Abid Hussain (39th minute) and Muhammad Ibrahim (48th minute). But SSGC striker Imran came with a brace in the 53rd and 85th minute before Asim Faiz landed the equaliser to earn a point for his side.
Habib Bank stretched their points to two from five matches while SSGC opened their account with a single point after six showdowns.
At the Nushki Stadium in Nushki, Balochistan, Baloch FC surprised KESC with a goalless draw. The single point pushed KESC’s tally to eight from six matches while Baloch FC moved their tally to six from five matches.
