ISLAMABAD The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Wednesday has responded to the questionnaire handed over to it by the National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports in order to probe into the degenerating affairs of football in the country.
Dawn was informed by a federal government official that the PFF has issued clarifications for all the 28 questions and will be handing over a brief three-page reply to the committee in an upcoming session of the NA sub-committee.
According to one of the replies to the NA committee, the PFF holds “The construction of the FIFA Goal Project-II in Karachi was delayed because of Government of Sindh’s failure to lease out the project land to the PFF as per FIFA’s basic requirements.
“However, the cancelled project was re-allotted to the city due to the personal efforts of PFF President Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat.”
Regarding the tender process for the project, the federation maintained that it was going to commence in the next few months as per undertaking given to the federation by the FIFA Development Officer concerned.
The project would cost US$ 0.5million, out of which US$0.4 would be paid by FIFA and the remaining US$0.1million will have to be arranged by the provincial government of Sindh and the federal government.
