Pakistan wants Vision Asia status

KUALA LUMPUR: The Pakistan Football Federation has expressed interest in joining AFC’s Vision Asia programme.

Like many of the South Asian countries, cricket is the leading sport in Pakistan. However, having seen the successes of Vision Asia projects in India, Pakistan is keen on joining the fray.

Earlier this month in Shanghai, AFC agreed to accept the Maldives and Sri Lanka as new Vision Asia Member Associations.

Should Pakistan be accepted, they would be the 15th country to be part of the continent-wide programme to enhance the standards of football at all levels.

“Pakistan have expressed an interest and they application is being considered,” said Vision Asia Director Brendan Menton.

Neighbour India has a four active projects in Manipur, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Delhi.
